The garden fence that Steve built
In the spring of 2014, Steve and Belinda Smith embarked on a second career and purchased a large house on 8+ acres just outside of Wimberley, Texas with the dream of opening a bed and breakfast. BellaVida Bed and Breakfast welcomed its first guests two months later. Since then, they’ve screened the porches, built additional bedrooms, and added Howard Chapel.
Just as Belinda was running short on building projects for Steve, they decided to purchase a charming little house in nearby New Braunfels, in the spring of 2022. Since New Braunfels was originally, a German settlement, it seemed fitting to call it BellaVida Haus. She needed a little work, well, a little more work than they anticipated. Actually, though, it was love at first-sight. After several months of work, she’s the perfect short term vacation home for a short get-a-way or staycation. In fact, Steve and Belinda are known to sneak off to BellaVida Haus themselves!
Steve and Belinda, along with their dachshund Gracie, thrive on welcoming guests who come as strangers and leave like family. They are happy to share the “agony and defeat” of gardening in the drought ridden rocky soil of Central Texas and raising chickens among the sly fox and raccoon. And, they like to share their produce at breakfast or abundance from the garden.
